Happy September

I've been getting a little caught up on some of my digital scrapbooking. I wanted to share a few. I hope everyone is having a great week and is as excited as I am that fall is here! I love this time of year...the food, the weather, the holidays, and the fun. Do any of you have favorite fall recipes that you would like to post? I will try and put a few up. I was thinking since we're all spread apart, we could have a "family dinner" once a month. Just for fun, we pick a night once a month that we are all going to be home and we make the SAME dinner for our families. Then we could follow up by playing a game of "couples ticket to ride" on-line. There is only room for 5 players, so we could just play in couples. Everyone could take a picture of their night eating the family dinner and post them on the blog. Let me know what you guys think!? Can you tell I miss you all!! (:
Love you guys!

Our new home

Here are some pictures of our new place. I finally got around to taking and downloading them. I did not include the master bed/bath or the spare office/bedroom due to clutter. :) You will just have to come and visit us to see those two rooms and bath (hehe - madness to my plan) :) I love you guys!!!

This is the living room looking from the kitchen.

Living room looking from the front door.

Living room looking from the dining area (sorry, didn't realize I had so many of the living room).

Dining area and kitchen bar looking from the living room.

Kitchen.

Kitchen and bar.
(The door to the left of the fridge goes into the spare room/study.
You can see the closet doors covering the washer/dryer)

Hallway. (ohhhh...the hallway!!!)

Savea's room. We are working on getting shelves and items put on his walls.
This is not quite the finished product.

This will be Sayla's room. The crib will go where the toddler bed is.
Can you tell her walls are pink? Yep, pink!!!!

Hall/guest bathroom.

Are You My Mother?

Happy Birthday Mom...Seuss Style!

There once was a mother so lovely...she had the cutest feet,
She often ate dinner for breakfast...cubed steak was her best a.m. treat.
Playing games with her family was special...she seldom didn't win,
And when she heard mama mia's...boy could she really spin!
Some affectionately call her grandma... stella, shanney, and even mom,
Sound of Music, Zhivago, and Fair Ladies ...have all been one of her songs.
Many a hotel guest bedrooms... have the joy of her jumping on beds,
Some weekends the D-Backs hear her cheering...while sitting by her sweetheart named Ted!
The Cub Scouts have all merited and advanced... because of her leadership,
If you want something to remember...join her to Utah for a long long road trip!
Cashews, catalina, blue cheese she likes....but not broccoli, seafood, or gravy,
And when practicing family skits...opps!...she forgets to be a lady!
Her style is pretty and darling...containing much of the navy blues,
Shanna's sincere, sweet, and sensitive to others...just to name a few.
Her ipod does the shuffle....from Diamond, Julio, and Taylor (James and Swift)
Putting the star on top of her poinsettia tree...requires a little bit of a lift.
She can tell that your Christmas gift...will match with this and that,
She sneezes when she smells...dust, pollen, weeds, grass, and cats.
So to Mom on your birthday...as you turn... I wouldn't dare,
This is our way of saying I love you...and how thankful we are for your care.

Happiest Birthday Mom!

Opinion...

Ok Family- I need your honest opinion about these baby hair clips. Do you think they are cute? Do you think I could possibly sell them? Which one is your favorite? What other colors would you do?

I have been working on these for the last couple of days and the idea of selling them has popped into my head. They are meant to go on a headband like the one in the photo below. But I think they would be cute by themselves also. They are on those little alligator clips, so you can picture the size of them.

The headband would be skinnier than this, but basically the same idea.

I would love to hear some of your ideas, and please don't be afraid to be honest! :)

Look who's cookin....

So here is what I made for dinner tonight. It was so yummy, so I thought I would share it with you all. It tasted better than it looks in the pic. Try it! I put the recipe at the bottom so you can have it. Hope you are all doing well. Love you guys!!

P.S. If you want to see pics of our new car, they are on our blog if you want to check them out.

1/2 c. butter (1 cube)
1/4 tsp. garlic, minced
2 c. whipping cream
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 c. parmesan cheese (grated)
1 c. roasted red peppers (the kind in a jar)
red pepper flakes (to taste)
3-4 cups cheese or spinach tortellini (cooked)

Optional:
1/2 c. cooked spinach (for this, we bought fresh spinach and cooked it in about 2 Tbsp. of butter until dark green and soft... add to the sauce right before serving)
1 c. cooked chicken (for the one we made, we rubbed Montreal Seasoning on 2 boneless chicken breasts and baked at 400 degrees for about 40 minutes. Then sliced the chicken into strips)
OR
1 c. shrimp (sauteed in butter and garlic)

Melt a little of the butter in a medium saucepan and add the garlic. Saute on medium heat for about a minute, then add remaining butter, whipping cream, and pepper. Bring to a boil and add the parmesan cheese. Lower heat and simmer until the cheese is completely mixed in. Dice up the red peppers and add them to the sauce, continue to simmer. Serve over tortellini. Top with chicken, shrimp, or anything else you would like! (I think it would be good to add a few toasted pine-nuts and cooked asparagus.
