The Chicken Soup Dialogues

I hope everyone had a great General Conference weekend! We sure thought a lot about all of you as we watched the sessions. I hope my sisters were scouting out great hairstyles from the choir for our later years! ;) Here are a few pics from the kids. We survived the media fast and enjoyed every session.

So Sunday night Dad asked everyone at dinner what their favorite general conference talks and messages were. I want to open that up to comments...since we all weren't able to share while enjoying mom and dad's homemade chicken noodle soup with caviar (not really, but dad made a yummy olive dip that looked identical).

I'll start...I loved Elder Perry's talk on simplifying and here is one of my favorite quotes, quoted by Sister Dalton:

"I can do hard things...in the strength of the Lord, I can do all things."

Missing The Fall In Utah

I admit it. I'm homesick for Utah in the fall. I would love to drive the Alpine Loop. I think it would be a FUN family outing for ALL of us to be in Utah for General Conference. We could enjoy the weather, conference, Grandma & Grandpa's backyard, help them pick apples, and minature golf at Cascade!!

I loved Conference and can't wait to get the Ensign and read each talk. I love Elder Wirthlin's message and his sweet spirt. What a fun story about his daughter. I really enjoyed the biography on Pres. Monson that was shown between conference sessions.

I wanted to post a beautiful fall picture but I need Dad's help!!! I'm loving this blog....

Remember to send pictures when you carve your pumpkins....the price has gone up this year.

Love you all....

Hmmm... Picking a favorite talk would be a hard one. I would have to say that I really enjoyed Elder Bednar's talk on prayer. Love how he told us how to pray and challenged us to say a prayer of gratitude. Tyler said he did that on his mission; he said it was harder than he thought but was the neatest experience. I loved Elder Holland's talk as well and loved the story he told about that little boy. They were all good!

Mom... I wish you could be up here for the fall weather! The air is starting to have that crisp fall feeling. The leaves on the mountain are changing and surprisingly you can smell pumpkins in the air :) I love this time of year but I know it's only going to be followed with snow. Not really looking forward to that. Hopefully this winter won't be as bad as last year.

Hope you all are doing well. We miss you guys! Love to all.

I love reading your comments. I thought Elder Nelson's remarks were quite powerful. He talked about Eternal families and Eternal exaltation. I loved when he said "if you reject the gift, you have rejected the giver of the gift." I think in the society that we live in today it's so nice to hear an apostle talk about how important eternal marriages are. The world takes marriages lightly and really they are one of the most important covenants we make.

I also love the talk about Angels. Literally and those around us. I don't remember who gave the talk but I really enjoyed it.

I can hardly wait to see you guys! Love you.

Oh Rudy I loved Elder Nelson's talk as well. Tyler's Aunt just got divorced and we couldn't help but think of that situation. It made us so grateful for each other and for the covenants we made in the temple!

Tyler said that it looks like Clayton's building molecules.... You can tell who's taking O-Chem! :!

That's exactly what Clayton's doing...he's building hydrogen bonds! =) You'd be surprised what they teach on seasame street these days. Actually that's Clayton's "king benjamin" tower. We talked about how that was a "general conference" a long time ago, so they were building those while we watched the session. I think at that point he had already eaten king benjamin! =)Tell Tyler that we have plenty of pretzels and marshmallows that he can use to help him study!
